With the lack of men openly contributing to this public debate, does the media send out a message that only women need to concern themselves with walking down the street safely or being safe in their own homes? Are we placing the onus only on women to keep safe, not on men to change their behavior?

What a brutal case, too. It's terrible that you can't go for a simple run (in daylight!) without worrying.
