This year, we’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day with the kids
Because it’s been a crappy pandemic for them too.
I’ve always loved date-nights with my husband. It’s our escape from reality. It’s where we can talk without interruptions. It’s where we can enjoy an entire meal without “I don’t like that”, “Can I have more”, “Mommy can you get me this”, “Daddy I need the ketchup”, and SPLASH there falls the cup of milk to the floor. Date-nights is our light at the end of the day as parents for 3 wild boys under 6.
As I was debating how we were gonna do Valentine’s Day 2021, I started thinking about the kids. They are driving me crazy countless times per day, but I am also beyond impressed by them. This past year has shown me how extremely resilient kids are. They are strong little human beings, and worth being celebrated. Our 6-year-old has adapted to a school system that is sometimes all remote, sometimes a hybrid-version, and sometimes fully in person. All depending on how many Covid-cases our county has. Navigating through apps, zoom and homework. Not socializing with friends the same way as before the pandemic. The other day he came home super excited — not because he was gonna have a play-date or play soccer with his friends, but simply because him and a good friend from school had planned to have an online meeting, on Google Duo.
