Not a whole lot

It’s funny the things that go viral. Lately, Sweden has received a fair share of bad press. You see, they don’t feed their houseguests.

Or so someone on Reddit said.

The internet ate it up. A lot of people say they have experienced the same while (not) dining at their friend’s house, but instead having to wait in a different room. Some say it’s an outdated norm, not really being practiced anymore. Others say it’s alive and well but out all out of respect for not interrupting people’s dinner plans.

It all started with this question from a Reddit user:

“What’s the weirdest thing you had to do at someone else’s house because of their culture/religion?”

Another user responded to the thread and wrote:

“I remember going to my Swedish friend’s house. And while we were playing in his room, his mom yelled that dinner was ready. And check this. He told me to WAIT in his room while they ate.”
