Some of the Major Things I Don’t Understand About The United States

It’s one of those pieces again.

If you’ve been following me recently, you know I’ve been writing a few blissful articles about life in the United States lately. It’s all true — I’ve grown to love living in this country, but there are some larger, more fundamental things I have a hard time getting. Some days these things hit me harder than others.

Especially today.

And if I’m being totally honest, I am fairly certain I’ll never understand them.

The guns

I’m at a loss.

I don’t know what can be said that hasn’t been said already to stop mass shootings from happening in this country. We know what needs to be done but nothing ever happens.

It’s heartbreaking, frustrating, and inhumane.

The pills

Last year, I had a minor surgery in my month. It was painful, but not like childbirth painful, if that makes any sense. It was bearable and I went to cover a story for work later the same day.

After the surgery, the dentist prescribed three different medications for me, all in pill form. The first was antibiotics to prevent infections. Fair enough. I…
