Marcia said it well :) outdoor suburban pools in the U.S. are often open from Memorial Day - Labor Day and to avoid overcrowding you'll have to reserve your spot for the season, often by paying a deposit in advance. They are pretty strict on not letting too many in esp. since the pandemic started.
